PROBLEM: Select a book in the public domain, and redesign the front and back covers in addition to the interior.
SOLUTION: I chose Lewis Carroll’s "Alice in Wonderland" for this project. I compiled a mood board inspired by Mary Blair’s original concept art for the animated Disney film and other design influences from the 60s and 70s. I drew the exterior illustrations in Procreate with pencil brushes and created the book title in Illustrator.
The interior typesetting and design were completed entirely in InDesign. I developed character and paragraph styles to maintain both visual and technical consistency throughout the book. Once all type styles were defined and executed, I checked each paragraph for widows and orphans.
