PROBLEM: Design two new logos and a brand guide for the Albany Carousel and their sub-brand, Carousel Cares, that appeal to both children and adults. The client requested a vibrant color palette and an overall whimsical feel to represent the charm of the carousel.
SOLUTION: First, I conducted research, created a mood board, and then began sketching logo concepts. Because the Albany Carousel operates with antique machinery and also maintains a carousel museum onsite with historic artifacts and collectibles, I aimed to design a visual identity that embodies the playful spirit of classic mid-century carousels.
I balanced cheerful display typefaces with flat, geometric shapes to create an exuberant yet modern aesthetic. After vectorizing my two final logos, I developed a brand guide and designed several pieces of collateral such as an informational postcard, social media ad, apparel, booklet, and tote bag.
